Emergency Nursery Closure

Buckingham Primary School & Nursery Emergency Closures

Children and staff safety is a priority to us; to this end it may be necessary to fully or partially close the school and nursery at a given time due to events such as:

  • Severe weather conditions preventing staff and children from getting to or from school safely, e.g. snow.
  • Emergency conditions occurring overnight but unknown to parents e.g. power or heating failures.
  • Emergency conditions arising during the day.

This document details our procedures in the event of a whole school or class closure.

In the event of a full closure, our procedures are to:

  • Confirm the closure with Bucks Council prior to 8.45am; they will post information on their website (if closure is known prior to the school day).
  • Advise school parents of closure via text message and ParentMail.
  • Advise nursery parents of closure via Famly.
  • Post closure information on the school and nursery websites.
  • If closure takes place during the school day, parents will be contacted via text and ParentMail. Children will remain on site until collected.
  • If the school is deemed unsafe, the children will be evacuated to Bourton Meadow School.

Remote Learning

To facilitate remote learning we use the following on-line platforms:

  • Y2-Y6 Times Tables Rockstars – knowing multiplication tables is critical to being successful in maths. Each child has their own link to this resource.
  • The Oak Academy has video tutorials from qualified teachers on a whole range of subjects. Oak National Academy  Teachers will send details of lessons which align with current classroom learning.
  • www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize have a range of resources for KS1 and KS2 children.
  • Y3-Y6 Doodle – daily doodle and additional activities set by teachers.
  • Reception - Famly will be updated with activities and ideas for children in EYFS.

Reading.  Whether your child is reading or you are reading to them, please encourage reading during a school closure.

It is also important that your child enjoys some daily exercise.  This will help with their health and wellbeing, as well as enable them to be mentally ready for learning.

There are a number of Joe Wicks sessions available on YouTube that are ideal for indoor exercise
