Buckingham Primary Nursery

Chicks

Our Chicks team, led by Kirsty, work closely with parents to ensure each child’s routine at home is maintained including their sleep pattern, eating times, diet, milk type, bottle preparation and weaning food etc. The Chicks room is where imaginative, exploratory, investigatory and sensory play experiences take place in abundance.

The children enjoy small world and sensory play areas which are regularly rotated to keep your child stimulated. Language and socialisation are crucial so the room is filled with chatter, stories, songs and rhymes.
Wellies and puddle suits are a must in the Chicks room. The children are outside as much as weather permits, not only in their own outdoors area but exploring the school’s extensive grounds.

Our Chicks enjoy messy play on a regular basis. It introduces babies to different textures, colours and smells, enhancing their sensory awareness and cognitive development and helping to explore the world around them. It also boosts their natural curiosity, helping them understand cause and effect as well as problem solving.
Each child is assigned a key person who is responsible for their basic and emotional needs and is responsible for supporting your child’s development with regular observations and assessments. The relationship between the key person, yourself and your child begins on your child’s visit, we monitor who your child bonds with more and then we will assign their key person, there is no time limit on this, sometimes it can be clear who they bond with more on their first visit, it is up to your child to take the lead.
